How does Winkhaus electronic access control work?
Winkhaus electronic access control is based on innovative wireless technology that uses a virtual network for data exchange. The system consists of electronic cylinders, powered by their own energy source, that perfectly match the dimensions of mechanical cylinders.
To open the door, electronic keys with an access chip are used, which are inserted and turned, similar to mechanical keys.

Electronic inserts
Winkhaus electronic cylinders fit all locks designed to accept standard mechanical cylinders. An electronic chip inside the cylinder reads the access data stored on the key.
Locking is done in the same way as with mechanical inserts by inserting and turning the key.
They are powered by batteries built into the insert body or knob, suitable for frequently used external doors or doors exposed to extreme conditions external conditions. They are also offered in insert versions with an enlarged battery or insert without batteries. Inserts without batteries are opened only with active key that supplies power.
All standard key-operated cylinders are factory-equipped with anti-drill and anti-tear protection (VdS compliant). The keys are made of high-quality plastic, also used in the aviation, space, and automotive industries. Tests conducted at the Institute of Precision Mechanics in Warsaw have demonstrated that the electronic cylinders of the blueCompact and blueSmart systems meet security class 6 according to PN-EN 1303:2007 and PN-EN 1303:2015-07.
BSN passive electronic key
Winkhaus electronic keys are battery-free, damage-resistant, and maintenance-free. They are IP68-compliant, ensuring dust and water resistance. The keys are machine-washable and disinfectable. Each key has an electronic profile and a unique code. Communication with the cylinder is contactless and encrypted. Data for the app is additionally encrypted with 128-bit AES encryption. Electronic keys can be used as identifiers in access systems, time and attendance systems, and with electronic door handles.

BSA active electronic key
The blueSmart active key is self-powered and can open both active and passive lock cylinders. It can also be used as a power supply and lock cylinder programmer. Its functions are best utilized within a virtual network (not in combination with passive lock cylinders).

BlueCompact app for mobile devices
The new feature of the system is a simple method of programming keys and inserts, which is done using a free mobile phone application for the following operating systems: Android from version 4.4 and iOS from version 7.
The application allows not only for the appropriate programming of electronic inserts and keys, but also for communication between two phones, allowing, for example, temporary granting of access rights to a neighbor when we are on vacation.
Intelligent access management
The BlueCompact system management app offers ease of use, regardless of location or time. For the first time, you can control access using a smartphone or tablet.
Safe response to key loss
Immediate response to lost keys becomes a reality thanks to the ability to block them via the app. BlueCompact ensures that lost keys are worthless to unauthorized users, and their reactivation is quick and easy.
Full control thanks to clear reports
The BlueCompact app gives you a clear overview of all door opening and closing activities. Every key use is logged, allowing you to track who accessed your door, when, and where.
Remote permission management
Regardless of location, you can manage access permissions remotely. For example, you can temporarily grant access to a neighbor by sending them electronic permission through the app.
